my year of discovering blogs - and have
thoroughly enjoyed using them both for myself and with my students,
so not sure where to venture in 2006. And I guess that's my expectation
of these sessions - to be inspired and educated in what we can do
with technology, so as to be a better teacher all round. Looking forward
to new ideas and playing with new toys! The more fun, the better,

questionnaire which were key instruments in an administrative reflection
process. Thanks Teresa and Dafne for sharing with us all your invaluable
knowledge, dedication and
personal warmth. You have changed more lives than you know. This
year I hope to keep up with as many activities as I possibly can with
a dial-up connection at home and DSL at work, and I will make sure

many schools have Internet access, poor/very slow internet connection)
I’ve encountered a number of difficulties in my work, like keeping
teachers in web space, developing a taste for professional networking,
keeping initial enthusiasm last to mention by a few. My expectations
from the course are better ICT skills and solutions to my issues found
together in our work on the course. One more objective is introducing
a group of Ukrainian teachers to a wider ELT community. Beware, we
are joining in mass! Ten teachers from Ukraine are joining various
topics and in March we are organizing a roundtable to share our experience

were also part of the

I'm from Poznan,Poland.My main current interests &
courses are advanced English grammar and Information Technology. The
latter is a new course which I am designing from scratch, so it is
both challenging and exciting. The course is supposed to prepare future
teachers to use the computer in their work and help them understand
and appreciate some of its potentials. I work with my students on
things like internet based activities, materials design
(word processor, Paint, Hot Potatoes and the like), web page design,
audio files recording and editing, video editing, but also using spreadsheet
for test result
analysis and designing their own electronic register. I have joined
the group to find out more about the use of computers in teaching,
so that I can include this in my course. I'm sure I can learn a lot
from everyone here. My problem may be participating in synchronous
events because of
my tight schedule, but I understand I can follow the events at other

I've got a colleague

students here in Japan have trouble making that connection with English.

that other people put tons of time into for English and intercultural

At work we are 53 teachers of English, French, German and Italian,
most of us Spanish, we have a total registration of about 5000 students
every year, next year we'll start Portugese. I've also done some
English-Spanish translation workshops at the Universidad Internacional
Menéndez Pelayo in Santander. I've been an on-and-off school
administrator: headmaster for 5 years and head of studies for 7
years. Too much stress in the long run! I'm doing my thesis on collaborative
environments. I find one important drawback to all this international
learning and teaching cooperation. Setting up everything is basically
time consuming. When I have to
go through all the "technicallities" I'd like to forget
about it. The "super PCnetworker" to rely on doesn't exist
at school (neither it does in
the rest of schoools around me), so I have to do it myself, and
I don't find so much time to do long hours. My family is important
to me, so I think that only
people with plenty of energy should get involved in this kind of
activity. However what is the point of learning a languge you will
never use? I need to
feel motivated by the fact that my teaching is useful for my students,
that they can see it is actually working and that they get motivated
to appreciate
that it all comes down to human communication. Santander is a beautiful
place. I imagine yours too.

I´m really excited about joining the group.
Just enrolling has had me learning a lot. I´m in Brazil and
currently doing a summer school where this course was discussed,
so I decided to take the plung and join I live in Brasilia (but
not Brazilian). When I have tackled this new form (for me
anyway) of learning I´ll be better placed to help others.
I hope I´m doing the right thing by posting here. There is
so much information
to sort out.

I find the kind of work that I am
currently doing quite a remarkable and memorable experience. The specifics
of teaching at a distance is also the focus of my research work. My
interest lies within the different aspects of what
now constitutes the role of a distance language tutor.
