I tried to use some of the tools we were presented with during the course, Script-O, Game-O-matic, the Visual Thesaurus, and Ultralingua. I also created a Challenge Board on QUIA, but it is not new to me (we have a subscription in my school), except the way I prepared the game.

I chose the online resources so that I could include them in our e-folder, and my colleagues can all profit from what I've done for this lesson plan without taking some hours to prepare them all over again.

Compound Adjectives Lessonplan
by Carla Arena
Level: Advanced

LESSON GOALS

Students will read a short story from O. Henry, interpret it, and extract from the text examples of compound adjectives.

Objectives:

Procedures

Part 1 - Students discuss the idea of lying and helping other people.

Part 2 - They read the text, do the comprehension part and start working on compound adjectives. If they have problems to identify compound adjectives, teacher should intervene (question 11) and prepare them for the vocabulary part in the exercise (from question 12 on) when they will be making the compound adjectives.
Teacher should explain that the ones being studied are formed by noun/adjective/adverb + present/past participle.

Part 3 - Vocabulary Practice - students will still work on forming compound adjectives. Then they will use them in context.

Assessment: Vocabulary Game - In a fun and relaxed way, students and teacher can assess how much they've learned.

Part 4 - Learn More About... - Students will have the chance to get a thorough explanation on compound adjectives and they'll be presented with a lot of examples on those, expanding their knowledge on compound adjectives formation.

Well, that's it! It was a challenging, but fun practice, and I am glad I learned how to use other free tools on the web.

Any comments and feedback are always welcome!
