Dafne González, Ph.D

Biodata

I have been an EFL, EST and ESP professor for 30 years in Caracas, Venezuela. I have also taught methodology courses in a MSc in an Applied Linguistics Program at Universidad Simon Bolivar, where I am an Associate Professor.

I have been involved in online teaching since 2002. I have published articles in different international journals, and have presented at TESOL conferences, and at online and f2f e- learning events. I am an active member of Webheads in Action, and one of my research interests is the use of synchronous web tools for language learning and teacher development.

I earned a B.A. in Modern Languages, and a MSc in Applied Linguistics. Last June, I defended my doctoral dissertation on ESP e-course design and evaluation at Universidad de Valencia, in Spain.

I serve on the editorial board of the ESL Mini Conference Online Magazine, and in the TESOL Technology Advisory Committee. I am part of the TESOL EVOnline Electronic Village Online Coordination team, and I have co-moderated the EVOnline 2004 and 2005 sessions "Becoming a Webhead", and have helped mentoring moderators-to-be for the EVO sessions for three years, all of these courses take place in Yahoo Groups and make use of different synchronous and asynchronous Web tools.

I co-moderate the "Teaching Vocabulary and Grammar Online" course of the TESOL "Principles and Practices of Online Teaching Certificate Program" on the Desire2Learn platform. I co-teach an online course for the Universidad de Valencia in Spain: "Taller Virtual: Creación de Cursos y Tutorías en Línea" and have co-taught a similar course for the UNED in Spain: "Taller Virtual sobre la Creación de Cursos y Comunidades en Línea ".

I have also been teaching blended courses at the university where I work both, at the graduate and undergraduate level, using Moodle as our asynchronous communication center, and Tapped In, Alado and Elluminate for our live sessions.
